The Secret Place

In the heat of the sun and cold of the storm,
In the threats life’s battles and fears of defeat,
When confusion frequents and becomes a norm,

And doubts, like a flood seems to wash away my feet…

I find solace in that secret place.

Where strength rises and drowns every fear.
Where courage abounds and crushes silent doubts.
Faith is restored by His Word upon my ear.

And victory beheld concerning future bouts.

It’s a secret place indeed.

I and my Father, together as One.
In spirit and soul, an unbreakable bond.
No more fears, for victory is won.

Loved and cherished, of me He’s fond.

Forever in that secret place.

‘Perfecting’ Perfection

Perfection is an interesting topic to talk about. It often conotes the attribute of flawlessness and a state of the highest attainable standard.

It is almost a sacred word when used with sincerity, so it is not uncommon to hear the a statement like “none is perfect except God.” Because deep inside each of us, we recognise the flaws we carry.

However, as we may have observed in life, it often helps to set our focus and desires towards what is ‘ideal’ not necessarily what is practical.  This is often not common sense.

Common sense often requires that you focus on what is practical and ‘realistic’. But I dare say that realistic thinking is the root of most limiting beliefs.

Think about it for a minute.

If the Wright Brothers were being ‘realistic’ in their thinking, they may never have built the first air plane.

What they did was to IMAGINE an IDEAL that they desired and (looking beyond the current ‘reality’) went ahead to create something close to it.

The first air plane they built wasn’t really the best possible as there have been massive improvements ever since. But they created a new reality by looking beyond a prevailing reality.

Aim for perfection, but never make it a requirement.

Strive to be perfect, but don’t make it your goal to be achieved.

Instead, let it be like the motivational carrot before the eyes of the camel. – a goal to keep pursuing.

Set ‘PERFECTION’ before you and keep walking towards it. And in the process, even if you never become ‘PERFECT’ you would have been ‘perfecting’ yourself in the process. It’s the principles of ‘kaizen’ – (a Japanese word) or what Anthony Robins calls ‘Continuous And Never-ending Improvements’ (CANi)

So what is your dream State and Status with respect to your Health, Finances, Academics, Spirituality, Relationship or Marriage, etc? What is your IDEAL PICTURE?

Start pursuing it and don’t be intimidated by ‘perfection’. Embrace Perfecting.

Daily Peace

sometimes we get so weighed down by the regrets of the past or tensed up by the anxieties of the future that we eventually lose the peace in our lives today that we really need.

This is not the best way to live.

There is a simple recipe for DAILY PEACE which I have found. Simple but not necessarily easy. And here it is;

Forget about your past, it’s behind you.
Don’t worry about the future, it’s yet to come.
Focus your attention on THE PRESENT and do the best you can each day.

This frees you from both the regrets of the past and the anxieties of the future. And when you do focus on the Present, do so with a consideration (not a worry) of the future. – This is called PRUDENCE.

If you can master this habit and practice it daily, one day, you will wake up to find that you are living the DREAMS that you have always wanted.

Peace is within your reach

Bounce!

When Life knocks you down, don’t just fall, Bounce!

You see, everyone makes mistakes and some mistakes can be really consequential.
Sometimes, we find ourselves in situations where we just can’t figure out how to move on in life.
Maybe a loved one died… or you lost a huge some of money in an investment… or you failed in business… or you failed a very important examination in school… or a relationship didn’t work out. And it’s kinda like being knocked down REAL HARD.

Get over it.

They say you can’t put a broken egg back together… it’s true (what has happened has happened). But it’s also true that you can make omelette with it (Fry it baby 😉 and enjoy the meal). It’s the lessons you take out of the experience that matters more.

It doesn’t matter how FAR DOWN you fall, what matters most is how HIGH UP you BOUNCE.

But what does it really take to Bounce back? I’ll talk about just two.

FLEXIBILITY. Don’t be rigid my friend. Rigid stuffs crack or break when they receive a hit. It takes flexibility to bounce. Be flexible in your approaches to life issues (while being focused on your objectives) and learn to explore alternative methods as long as they don’t violate your values. Be flexible.

BE PUMPED UP! Yeah, you really can’t bounce if you are deflated, even if you’re flexible. You have to be filled up inside. – pumped up!
This is really the essence of motivation (to pump you up) but like we all know, motivation doesn’t really last. So you need it regularly and often.
Be pumped in HOPE – Hope in a better tomorrow.
Be pumped up in FAITH – Faith in God who can never fail.
Be pumped up in WISDOM – Wisdom for directions and guidance.

… and stay ‘bounceable’.

FOCUS ON YOUR ASSIGNMENT

So I have been doing some serious introspection lately. And Recently, I have had to relearn some of the lessons I’ve known for a while.

It’s not enough to be busy. It’s more important to be PRODUCTIVE.
It’s not enough to be getting things done. It’s more important to get the RIGHT THINGS done.

I noticed I had somehow gotten myself encumbered with lots of activities. Mostly activities that had to do with other people’s business and work to the detriment of mine.
I had gotten so busy doing different things for different people that I barely had time to pursue my goals. This discovery was a personal ‘Call to Action’ for me…

IT’S TIMES TO UNCLUTTER YOUR LIFE.

There is a biblical fable of a man that was given a task by his commanding officer. His task was to keep watch over a prisoner of war. But somehow he got distracted with other activities and the prisoner escaped. His report to the king included words like…

“while your servant was busy here and there, he was gone.” And the king’s judgement to him was not a pleasant one.

Sometimes, you have to learn to deliberately say NO to many people and many things in order to be able to say YES to your dreams.
Many times, the reason we find it hard to stay true to our resolutions and plans for a better life is that we have too many (unnecessary) things taking our emotional energy.

If you find yourself in this situation, it’s time to unclutter.
It’s time to disengage from certain (less important) tasks and responsibilities.
This does not mean you should become selfish and only care about yourself. But to remind you that your your assignment in life (your purpose) should take precedence.
It’s time to #FOCUS on your assignment and pursue your DREAMS.

Before the Light is Down

“Greater is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof…”

It is often said that it is not how you begin that matters most, but how you end. It is good and very important to start well but perhaps more important is to end well.

As we look toward the end of this year and make plans for the beginning of the coming year, I want to urge you to do something. Just one thing.

I believe that you have taken stock of how the year have been (if you haven’t, please do that without any further delays) and you have counted your wins and your ‘lessons’ (no losses). However, there is still room for greater victories even in these final days.

I want you to look back at the whole year and pick out just ONE GOAL that you can still accomplish before the 31st night. It doesn’t have to be a big and mighty goal (if there is any such thing). It should just be a goal that will add an extra ‘feather’ to your hat in 2017.

It could be that book that you have always wanted to read, that old friend that you know you should reconcile with, or that hanging project that you can still quickly conclude within the next few days.

By all means legitimately possible, JUST DO IT!

It will give you such positive energy to kick start the new year and you’d be glad you did.

For me, there’s this one goal I’ll be ticking off my checklist this week. So keep your fingers crossed and #Anticipate.
