‘Perfecting’ Perfection

Perfection is an interesting topic to talk about. It often conotes the attribute of flawlessness and a state of the highest attainable standard.

It is almost a sacred word when used with sincerity, so it is not uncommon to hear the a statement like “none is perfect except God.” Because deep inside each of us, we recognise the flaws we carry.

However, as we may have observed in life, it often helps to set our focus and desires towards what is ‘ideal’ not necessarily what is practical.  This is often not common sense.

Common sense often requires that you focus on what is practical and ‘realistic’. But I dare say that realistic thinking is the root of most limiting beliefs.

Think about it for a minute.

If the Wright Brothers were being ‘realistic’ in their thinking, they may never have built the first air plane.

What they did was to IMAGINE an IDEAL that they desired and (looking beyond the current ‘reality’) went ahead to create something close to it.

The first air plane they built wasn’t really the best possible as there have been massive improvements ever since. But they created a new reality by looking beyond a prevailing reality.

Aim for perfection, but never make it a requirement.

Strive to be perfect, but don’t make it your goal to be achieved.

Instead, let it be like the motivational carrot before the eyes of the camel. – a goal to keep pursuing.

Set ‘PERFECTION’ before you and keep walking towards it. And in the process, even if you never become ‘PERFECT’ you would have been ‘perfecting’ yourself in the process. It’s the principles of ‘kaizen’ – (a Japanese word) or what Anthony Robins calls ‘Continuous And Never-ending Improvements’ (CANi)

So what is your dream State and Status with respect to your Health, Finances, Academics, Spirituality, Relationship or Marriage, etc? What is your IDEAL PICTURE?

Start pursuing it and don’t be intimidated by ‘perfection’. Embrace Perfecting.

Before the Light is Down

“Greater is the end of a thing than the beginning thereof…”

It is often said that it is not how you begin that matters most, but how you end. It is good and very important to start well but perhaps more important is to end well.

As we look toward the end of this year and make plans for the beginning of the coming year, I want to urge you to do something. Just one thing.

I believe that you have taken stock of how the year have been (if you haven’t, please do that without any further delays) and you have counted your wins and your ‘lessons’ (no losses). However, there is still room for greater victories even in these final days.

I want you to look back at the whole year and pick out just ONE GOAL that you can still accomplish before the 31st night. It doesn’t have to be a big and mighty goal (if there is any such thing). It should just be a goal that will add an extra ‘feather’ to your hat in 2017.

It could be that book that you have always wanted to read, that old friend that you know you should reconcile with, or that hanging project that you can still quickly conclude within the next few days.

By all means legitimately possible, JUST DO IT!

It will give you such positive energy to kick start the new year and you’d be glad you did.

For me, there’s this one goal I’ll be ticking off my checklist this week. So keep your fingers crossed and #Anticipate.

In Life’s Race…

In life’s race, you don’t stay ”in front” to win.
You stay ”on course” – On ”your” lane to obtain the prize.

In life’s race you don’t get disqualified for falling down.
You get disqualified for STAYING DOWN.

Life’s race requires more of STAMINA than SPEED – more of tenacity, persistence and staying power. Because Life’s race is more of a MARATHON than a SPRINT.

Life’s Race respects FOCUS over ABILITY, CLARITY over SKILL and DETERMINATION over STRENGTH.

In Life’s Race, you’re not competing against the other runners.
You’re competing against yourself AND Time.

So quit looking at the other runners, else you MISS YOUR STEP!

You will #SUCCEED.

Making an Impact.

In this world that we live in, many people live their lives to tell the stories of others but some live and become the stories to be told. The choice is ours to make. It is ultimately our decision to make whether we will be remembered or forgotten many years after we are dead.
In whatever you do, determine to make the world remember that you were here FOR GOOD, even when you are centuries gone.
Father Abraham today is known as the father of faith. Daniel has become a symbol of integrity and Jesus is the personification of love itself. What will you be remembered for? Will you be remembered at all?
The true worth and value of a man’s life is not in the number of years he spent living, but in the impact that he made while he lived. This simply refers to the contribution that you make to the betterment of the world, your nation, your community or even just an individual.
Always remember that you owe everyone that comes in contact with you (physically or otherwise) an encounter of a lifetime. But what kind of encounter would that be? Would it be positive or negative? Only you can decide.
Determine to write your name not just on the sands of time, but on the hearts of men. For this is most important. Some have used a warrior’s sword, some have used a painter’s brush, and I will use a writer’s pen.
What will you use? Decide that today.
